This course is designed to introduce the student to established principles governing human behavior. The historical development of psychology will be traced, the different perspectives from which psychology examines behavior will be described and the basic methods of investigation of psychology will be examined. Attention will be focused on developmental, social and health psychology. Further emphasis will be placed on the exploration of the individual within a group, in relation to the provision of health care. Theories of motivation, emotion, learning, memory, sensation and perception will be explored.
